We have provided architectural design and structural and civil engineering services to a number of colleges and schools in South Wales, in relation to schemes valued at more than £10 million per annum.

The schemes have included teaching blocks, sports halls, arts blocks and specialised buildings.

Clients have included, Bridgend College, Barry College, Neath Port Talbot College and Coleg Morgannwg.

General Description

The Teaching Block is situated next to a Grade II Listed Building, so a sensitive approach to the design was required. A reconstituted stone block was used, matching the natural stone of the Listed Building. The sliding sash window module was replicated from the adjacent Listed Building, together with a coping to eaves detail and quoin work. The Teaching Block allowed the college to form a new Reception Area, creating a focal point for the campus.

Construction Characteristics

The building is constructed of a steel frame with infill masonry panels, allowing for future flexibility if required. The scheme was design-managed in works packages, and administered on site by James and Nicholas’s full time Site Manager.
