Historically, James & Nicholas has been heavily involved in the design of heavy engineering foundations within the iron and steel Industry.

We have completed many projects for Corus at Llanwern Works, Port Talbot Works and Trostre Works.

We have also been involved in the new Melt Shop of Celsa Manufacturing (UK) Ltd in Cardiff (which represents a £70 million investment), together with other significant projects for Celsa at its Cardiff site.

General Description

This project comprises the civil engineering, structural engineering, cladding and mechanical/electrical work associated with an extension to the Rod Mill building at Celsa's Castle Works in Cardiff.

Construction Characteristics

The works entailed the construction of the structural steel twin-portal-framed structure as an extension to the existing building. The works also included the diversion of existing railway tracks, the provision of a surface water drainage regime and external concrete yard areas.
